The Egg Conference & Meeting Centre held on 8-9 June the 2015 Launch Conference of the Enterprise Europe Network (link to: een.ec.europa.eu), the world’s largest support network for European SMEs with international ambitions.

The two-day event programme included two plenary sessions, 18 workshops, 22 working meetings, a business matchmaking activity where 930 bilateral meetings were held and a networking area with 11 exhibitors.

The Conference brought together over 840 participants from 57 countries including Network partners, representatives from the European Commission, the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) and guest speakers. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Enterprise Europe Network (2015 – 2020). Its aim was to strengthen the links between long-standing and new Network members who together help ambitious SMEs innovate and grow internationally.

“This new beginning for the Enterprise Europe Network is the perfect opportunity to lay the groundwork for the future. The objective this year is to give participants a common vision of the Network’s key milestones for the future. Reaching these milestones will mean developing the Network to its full potential, putting in place strong foundations for coordinated network action, and assuring that the quality of the services translates into visible impact on the ground”, says José Puigpelat, EASME’s Head of Unit A1 (COSME).

The Egg fully encapsulated the Enterprise Europe Network spirit, incorporating a large, versatile event space, a business hub for start-ups and meeting point for innovation centres and universities. The conference programme made full use of the event location.
